I Swore I Would Never Wear Crocs...
Then I Discovered These 15 Cool Girl Approved Styles
I swore I would never wear Crocs. I was an active and vocal Croc hater.
After growing out of my first pair circa 2008, I left my Croc era behind. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my purple Crocs. But I knew they were not the fashion statement I wanted to make anymore.
It wasn’t too long after that I noticed everyone had left their Crocs in favor of literally any other shoe. The Croc slander grew nastier, and the passion behind it fiercer and more powerful.
Then the student athletes took over the Crocs, saving the shoes from near total extinction. Those confident enough to wear the shoes between practices and games were smart enough to use them as a branding mechanism. They were the girls with the Crocs, a smart and playful way to let everyone know you were in on the joke.
They were Crocs ironically, fully aware that wearing them any other way would be more than just a fashion crime. Those who wore them with love were immediately outcast, unaware of the pain they were inflicting on others with their eye-sores.
But then one day, not too long ago, I noticed a shift. It took me a minute to catch on, to truly believe that something this unbelievable would be unfolding before my very eyes, but there is was- Crocs were making a comeback.
Cool girls were wearing the classic Crocs, still ironically, but they were bringing it to a whole other level. This time it was not the sporty and chill girls wearing Crocs, but the maximalist fashion forward influencers. I couldn’t believe it: Crocs were coming back.
Again, I tried to fight the urge to peak at the Croc collections. I stood firm on my stance: Crocs were bad news. But one day something came over me and I found myself actually wanting a pair.
The Simone Rocha Crocs stopped me right in my tracks, and caused something unnatural to build up inside of me: an overwhelming hunger for a pair of Crocs. I blindly followed that feeling all the way to the Crocs website. What I found shocked me to my core.

Wait, these are Crocs?
Talk about a y2k dream, these Metallic Platform Flip Flops are begging to be styled with baggy jeans and a tiny top. Dare I say they look…expensive?
Getaway Platform Toe Loop in butter yellow and sunset orange has a hold on me. Not only do I love this color combination, but the style is so edgy and cool for beach days and boardwalk nights.
Never in my life would I have believed these Stomp Loafers were Crocs. They’re ridiculously cool, and I have never had success with finding a comfortable loafer. Has this been the answer all along?
I’m embarrassed to admit how much I love the Brooklyn Frosted Slide Heel. If you see me wearing these to formal events, no you didn’t.
Clogs are making a comeback and of course, Crocs is jumping on that trend. The Dylan Platform Clogs may be worth your time. I can’t decide if I like the black or the orange more, or if I have totally lost my mind at this point.
These Are Definitely Crocs, But I’m Not Mad About Them
Leaning into the clog of it all, I am fascinated by two pairs. The Stomp Clog obviously has sport mode, which is a plus. But the Siren Clog is a more upscale and dressy style. Do I have to get both just to try it out?
Another shoe style I love but have been unsuccessful in finding is a Mary Jane. Until I can find one that doesn’t give me blisters, I will have to rock the Croc Version.
Then I found this pair of Crocs lovingly named, “The Thing.” I’ll let you decipher your own feelings on this one.
Okay, Hear Me Out…
At some point, I realized that the fun of crocs may be leaning into the madness. Starting off with a subtle style, these Juicy Hot Pink Crocs are giving peak girlhood and must be worn with a matching sweatsuit.
A little more crazy is definitely the Haribo Clogs, with Gummy Bear Jibbitz. This is a statement, a stand out moment, a conversation starter. And it may even be a fashion must have for the maximalist in your life. It’s also just so much fun.
And speaking of fun, we all need a little more playful energy around us. Cancel out that minimalist office core aesthetic with the Bae Wildflower Clogs. No one will ever accuse you of being boring again.
The Ones That Started It All
At the end of the day, I’m thankful for the Crocs that first grabbed my attention. The Pink Simone Rocha x Stomp Fisherman Crocs changed my entire perspective on the brand. However, I still can’t decide if I like them better in the pink or the black?
But I do know that my overall favorite pair of Crocs is the Simone Rocha x Crocs Siren Spiked Clogs. If anyone needs a birthday gift for me, I am a size 7 (hint hint).
